South Burlington High School alpine team hosted a race at Cochran’s Ski Area in honor of Stefan Pierson.  The race was called “Stefan’s Race” and was run on a hill that Stefan loved.  It was here that he took his first ski racing lessons during Christmas break his sophomore year as a first time ski racer.  Stefan was a very fine tuned skier of glades, but running gates required a few lessons.  Stefan felt he learned from the best and got to ski some runs with Jimmy Cochran and Tim Kelly.

Although Stefan’s younger sister, Maria, did not get to ski that race since she was still in the recovery period from an ACL tear, she announced the race.  Maria said that she knew Stefan was there in spirit… being remembered in a sport he loved.
